WHO-TV 13 is ready to add 4:00 p.m. news.

WHO-TV 13 / Des Moines (“WHO Channel 13”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG (other than The Des Moines Register): WHO 13 is launching a weekday 4:00 p.m. newscast. It’s ready to launch a weekday 4:00 p.m. newscast on September 8th once KCCI 8 moves Ellen to 4:00 p.m. There will be no news competition in that timeslot since WOI 5 and KCCI 8 start at 5:00 p.m.  The Des Moines Register first reported it after announcing that Steve Karlin would move from anchoring mornings to returning to the 5:00 p.m. newscast, a spot he once held from when he joined the station in the late ’80s till 2011 and is now moving back to 5:00 p.m. Kevin Cooney will remain at 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. But that’s it, WHO 13 is launching weekday 4:00 p.m. news starting September 8th. And it’s an hour-long, since it will entirely compete with Ellen on KCCI 8 during that timeslot. Heard first here on this blog and not on TVSpy, TVNewsCheck, FTVLive or on any other blog.
