WBIN is ready to do news… again.

WBIN-TV 50 / Derry – Manchester, NH – Boston, MA (“WBIN 18”)

This has been months in the making and starting later this month or early next month, WBIN 18 will resume airing a daily newscast and it being it’s own daily news operation, focusing on New Hampshire, since the only TV news content from N.H. is WMUR 9. WBIN 18’s newscasts will be called NH1 News (New Hampshire 1 News) and it will offer coverage of New Hampshire and provide competition to WMUR 9. The newscasts will air weeknights at 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. and from 10:00-11:00 p.m. On weekends, only the late newscast will run from 10:00-10:30 p.m. Plus, a Sunday morning political program will be produced from 11:00-11:30 a.m. The studios will be produced in the Walker School building in Concord, NH with news bureaus in Nashua, Derry (the station’s city of license), Portsmouth, Laconia and Lebanon, NH. While these newscasts will compete with WMUR 9, they say it will be “very different”. For instance, it will include more coverage of the state’s Seacoast Region, compared to WMUR 9. We’ll find out how these newscasts do when they debut later this month or early next month.

Btw, they got great Al. Al Kaprielian is the chief meteorologist for WBIN 18 and does daytime weather updates and is known as “The Face of WBIN”, since he is the station’s long-time weather meteorologist with his quirky wit, offbeat style and sensible humor, alongside his great weather reporting. Expect him to do the weather at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. on WBIN 18.

HISTORY: WBIN 18 has done the news before under “MyTV” and “WNDS News NOW” but those operations have failed to remain for the overhaul and we’re cancelled and later folded. Recently, WBIN 18 aired a weeknight half-hour 10:00 p.m. newscast, known as The News at 10:00 on WBIN, with help from the Independent News Network (INN). It was produced out of Iowa with Manchester-based reporters contributing coverage. It debuted in September 2011, but was later canceled in April 2013.
