KNXV is scheduled to drop it’s 4:00 p.m. newscast.

KNXV-TV 15 / Phoenix (“ABC 15”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: It’s true… KNXV 15 is scheduled to drop it’s 4:00 p.m. newscast on August 25th, the first day it will air The NOW Arizona. Originally, we thought it was gonna be an hour-long program, but after checking TV listings, the program will actually be half-hour long. The List will remain at 4:30 p.m. and ABC 15’s 6:00 p.m. newscast will also remain an hour-long. Now, only EVB LIVE is gonna provide some sort of news in Phoenix at 4:00 p.m. until 3TV’s Good Evening Arizona at 4:00 launches September 9th. We are confirming this information to you and we are FIRST ON THE BLOG with this report.

Originally, we had rumors on this but we changed our post, 10 minutes after the original post was made, which can be seen at the bottom…

RUMORS ONLY: We are hearing more rumors that KNXV 15 may be dropping it’s half-hour 4:00 p.m. newscast in order to make room for The NOW, Scripps’ new news-interactive newscast that tries to combine news with social media. They may also wanna move The List from it’s current 4;30 p.m. time to an earlier time to accommodate The NOW. If so, then the only early evening newscasts on ABC 15 would be a half-hour newscast at 5:00 and after ABC World News, an hour-long 6:00 p.m. newscast. We hear they may drop the newscast in the fall (particularly next month or before November) to accommodate The NOW PhoenixThe List is actually not doing well in Phoenix as ratings are failing. And KNXV 15 is one of only a handful of stations from Cox, Scripps and Raycom to not air Right This Minute, which airs instead on FOX O&O KSAZ 10. The good news for those who want news at 4:00 p.m. is that KTVK 3 will be launching a 4:00 p.m. newscast and extending it’s Good Evening Arizona news-block to make it 4:00-6:30 p.m., even with KTVK 3 now being owned by KPHO 5. But again, the information on KNXV 15 dropping the 4:00 p.m. newscast are just rumors and RUMORS ONLY. If any new information comes through, we will certainly let you know. Stay tuned to The Changing Newscasts Blog for any new information.
