FIRST ON THE BLOG: The biggest little city in the world are about to have their mornings even bigger. It was announced days ago, but today, I’m confirming to report that Mornings on FOX 11 will make it’s debut on KRXI FOX 11, starting August 25th from 7:00-9:00 a.m. It would still be Reno’s ONLY morning newscast from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and also, it makes a return for news in that timeslot for KRXI 11 since they dropped the 4:30-9:00 a.m. and noon news from KTVU 2 / San Francisco, back in May. They dropped it due to KRXI 11 now owned by Sinclair, instead of Cox Media Group. KRXI 11’s sister station, KAME 21 is operated under a LMA by Sinclair, but owned by Deerfield Media. KRNV 4 is in the process of being sold by Intermountain West Comm. Company to Cunningham Broadcasting, but will remain operated by Sinclair afterwards.
The new newscast will be anchored by Melissa Carlson, Bill Frankmore and Samantha Boatman with Weather from meteorologist Tim Studebaker. We’re currently unclear as to when the new 10:00 p.m. newscast from KRNV 4 will debut. The 10:00 O’Clock News on KTVU Channel 2 is still running on KRXI 11 in the interim until they can debut the new 10:00 p.m. newscast, produced by KRNV 4.
