FIRST ON THE BLOG: As if 4:30 a.m. was early enough, WVTM 13 says “Nope. That’s not early enough. Let’s take it a step further.” Maybe to try to gather more ratings into it’s morning newscast. Whatever the case may be, Alabama’s 13 News Today in Alabama is expanding it’s weekday morning newscast to 4:00 a.m., becoming Birmingham and Central Alabama’s FIRST AND ONLY 4:00 a.m. weekday morning newscast, a trend that is starting to shape up across America and is starting to become the new normal for weekday morning news. Ken Lass is returning to Alabama’s 13 News to anchor the expanded morning newscast, coming over from Daytime Alabama, their former midday lifestyle show. It’s an early start for Alabama’s 13 and for those who need the 4:00 a.m. wake-up call.
Just checked now and saw that they have expanded their weekday midday newscast, Alabama’s 13 News Midday to a full hour, now entirely competing with WBMA/WCFT/WJSU’s ABC 33/40 News Midday for news at that hour. WBRC FOX 6 remains the ONLY one for news at Noon for a full hour.
