WBIN will offer more news in 2015.

WBIN-TV 50 / Derry – Manchester, NH – Boston, MA (“WBIN 18”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG (other than The Concord Monitor): We reported earlier this month that WBIN 18 will launch it’s news operation in late August or early September, called NH1 News (New Hampshire 1 News). They have hired a news anchor named Paul Mueller for it’s weeknight broadcasts and of course, great Al Kaprielian will do the Weather. This is part of CEO Bill Binnie’s operations to run the station. Well apparently, they got more plans for more news after this. According to The Concord Monitor out of Concord, NH, that by 2015, WBIN 18 will also be broadcasting 4 hours of local news in the morning and an hour-long noon newscast.

The coverage will include politics and also statewide news and weather, reported from WBIN 18’s 7 bureaus across the state. In addition to the TV newscasts, the group will run a website, create podcasts and broadcast via radio from Carlisle One Media’s sister stations (Carlisle One Media owns WBIN 18). By the end of this year, this would be the following:

Weekdays

  • 5:00-5:30 p.m. – NH1 News at 5:00
  • 5:30-6:00 p.m. – NH1 News at 5:30
  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. – NH1 News at 6:00

Weekends

  • 10:00-10:30 p.m. – NH1 News at 10:00

By 2015, the station would have 4 more hours of news in the morning and hour-long news at noon.

  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. –  NH1 News at 6:00
  • 10:00-11:00 p.m. – NH1 News at 10:00

The only other station with hour-long news at noon in Boston or within the Manchester mini-market are WHDH’s 7 News at Noon. The only others on from 7:00-9:00 a.m. are WFXT’s FOX 25 Morning News. The new news operation would compete with WMUR 9 in New Hampshire and with WBZ 4, WCVB 5, WHDH 7/WLVI 56 and WFXT 25 from Boston.
