FIRST ON THE BLOG: Well, it looks like WTSP 10 is in last place in the ratings. How do I know this? Because WTSP has cut an hour of it’s Saturday morning news. Instead of 6:00-8:00 a.m., 10 News Saturday is now only on from 7:00-8:00 a.m. as the 6:00 a.m. hour is now replaced by Paid Programming (why?). This now just leaves WTVT 13 (the usual market leader) and WFTS 28 (resurging to #1 in some key timeslots) as the only ones on at 6:00 a.m. on Saturdays as WFLA 8 doesn’t air their weekend morning news until 9:00 a.m. It’s no surprise that WTSP 10 is losing in ratings as it has been one of the most weakest and struggling stations in the market and for Gannett, ever since the rebanding from Tampa Bay’s 10 News to 10 Connects News, ratings went for a freefall, people stopped “connecting” with Channel 10 and overall, people just wen’t watching. I think the 10 Connects era ruined WTSP 10 and now, it may not recover from it.
