WJZY FOX 46 / Good Day Carolinas

UPDATE as of 11:40 p.m. on August 17th, 2014: WJZY 46 has pushed back the launch of Good Day Carolinas and it’s weekend editions. The morning newscast is now scheduled to start on August 25th with the Saturday morning newscast to start August 30th and the Sunday morning newscast to start August 31st. Again, the morning newscast is scheduled to be on from 4:30-9:00 a.m. with the Saturday newscast from 5:00-8:00 a.m. and the Sunday morning edition from 5:00-9:00 a.m.

ORIGINAL POST: According to TV listings, WJZY 46 is scheduled to launch their newest morning newscast Good Day Carolinas, starting next week on Monday, August 18th from 4:30-9:00 a.m. Then on Saturday, August 23rd, WJZY 46 launches a Saturday edition of the newscast from 5:00-8:00 a.m. and on Sunday, August 24th, a Sunday edition of the morning newscast from 5:00-9:00 a.m. WJZY 46 previously announced plans to launch a 7:00 p.m. weeknight newscast, but it looks like those plans have since been shelved as the newscast hasn’t still been launched yet. So far in 2014, WJZY 46 has done the following as the news operation was launched this year:

  1. Launched an hour-long nightly 10:00 p.m. newscast, titled MyFOX Carolinas Primetime
  2. Launched an hour-long nightly 6:00 p.m. newscast, titled MyFOX Carolinas LIVE
  3. Launched a daily morning newscast, titled Good Day Carolinas

This has all been done within a year since WJZY 46 was bought alongside WMYT 55 from Raleigh-based Capitol Broadcasting Company, who owns WRAL-TV 5 in Raleigh and WILM-LD 10 in Wilmington (both CBS stations). And within a year, WCCB 18 went from FOX to The CW, WJZY 46 went from The CW to FOX and becoming a FOX O&O and WMYT 55, which became a MyNetwork TV O&O as well.
