KSWB is gonna add news at 4:00 p.m. in San Diego.

KSWB-TV 69 / San Diego (“FOX 5 San Diego”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: I like to check on TVNewsTalk.net to see if anybody is talking about any stations adding or expanding newscasts in any way and sure fire enough, I found another one. And this one is again, FIRST ON THE BLOG.

KSWB 69 (Cable Channel 5, see the logo) has announced that it will launch an hour-long 4:00 p.m. newscast starting September 8th. Titled FOX 5 News at 4:00, the new 60-minute newscast will now offer KSWB 69 with an advantage because it will be the ONLY station in San Diego with 3 hours of news on weeknights from 4:00-7:00 p.m. This new newscast would have some competition though because it would compete with KNSD 39’s already-established NBC 7 News at 4:00. So now, KSWB 69 will have FOX 5 News on weeknights at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., all an hour-long, starting September 8th (the first day of the new TV season and new syndicated programs).
