KMGH is set to return to broadcasting news at 6:00 p.m. (UPDATE: It comes at a cost.)

KMGH-TV 7 / Denver (“Denver’s 7”; “ABC 7”)

UPDATE as of 7:10 p.m. on 8/26/2014: This new newscast at 6:00 p.m. will come at a cost though for one of it’s earlier newscasts. The 11:00 a.m. midday newscast will be cut down to 30 minutes to make way for Right This Minute at 11:30 a.m., which used to air at 9:30 a.m. but that 9:00 a.m. hour is scheduled to be replaced by The Meredith Viera Show, which makes it’s series premiere on September 8th.

So in other words, KMGH 7 adds a 6:00 p.m. newscast while cutting the midday newscast to just 30 minutes, all come September 8th. Hmm…..

FIRST ON THE BLOG (other than The Denver Post): We received a great tip from a guy named Skyler who told me about this. Again, since nobody else has reported it, we are once again… FIRST ON THE BLOG.

Guess who’s scheduled to make a return to the 6:00 p.m. news game in Denver? KMGH 7. Yes, that’s right… KMGH 7. The station that discontinued it’s 6:00 p.m. newscast in 2006 to fill Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune in that hour. But since KMGH 7 is now owned by Scripps, they are pushing the game shows away for more Scripps-related content. In place of both shows are The List at 6:30 p.m. and 7 News Right NOW at 6:00. Yes, KMGH 7 is adding a 6:00 p.m. newscast starting September 8th and will be anchored by Anne Trujillo, Eric Kahnert and 24/7 Weather with AMS-CBM and NWA/Sealed Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson. Again, this a return for a 6:00 p.m. newscast for KMGH 7 since 2006.

This newscast will compete with KCNC 4’s CBS 4 News at 6:00 (which also broadcasts an additional half-hour at 6:30 p.m.) and KUSA 9’s 9 News at 6:00 (#1 in that timeslot.). We’ll find out how it deals against the competition on September 8th when the new newscast debuts. This news was first reported by The Denver Post (great newspaper, btw).

We received this news from a tipster named Skyler. Just shows you that if you have any tips, then please submit them! Go to the Contact Us/Submit Tips page to submit anything that you may have that we don’t know about yet. It’s beginning to be very useful! And you’re making this blog, a great place for TV news junkies and for the TV news industry. Thank you!
