FIRST ON THE BLOG: Didn’t realize about this until this morning but here it goes…
… WPFO 23 has launched a brand new 6:30 p.m. newscast from WGME 13 for the Portland, ME area. This newscast is the ONLY ones on in the area, since it will compete against the BIG 3 network newscasts. The newscast is anchored by long-time WGME 13 veteran Kim Block, Gregg Lagerquist and Adrienne Stein. Weather comes from chief meteorologist Charlie Lopresti and Sports from sports director Dave Eid.
The other stations don’t air news at 6:30 p.m. because the network newscasts are on at that time and it gives WPFO 23 an advantage for more local news to be added and this is one of them. All newscasts on WPFO 23 (7:00-8:00 a.m., 6:30-7:00 and 10:00-11:00 p.m. weekdays as well as 10:00-10:30 p.m. Saturdays and 10:00-11:00 p.m. Sundays) are produced by WGME 13.
Portland, ME finally has news at 6:30 p.m. on weeknights. They will finally experience what I’ve experienced here in South Florida (my hometown area) for a while now.
