FIRST ON THE BLOG: The 2 Virginias TV market is small. #158 on the DMA list from Nielsen. Yet, 1 station decided to expand their news broadcasts in that market.
WVVA 6 has recently expanded their morning newscast to 5:00 a.m. WVVA News Today, as it’s currently known, now competes with WVNS 59 in that timeslot and now offers a full 2-hour morning show, just like WVNS 59. WOAY 50 (Cable 4) still only broadcasts a 1-hour edition of a morning newscast, starting at 6:00 a.m. But this wasn’t the only expansion or addition making headlines for WVVA 6…
… The station has also recently added a primetime newscast for their CW digital subchannel. The new half-hour newscast at 10:00 p.m. is known as WVVA News at 10:00 on 2 Virginias’ CW and is shown on weeknights ONLY. This new newscast now competes with WVNS 59’s hour-long weeknight 10:00 p.m. newscast on it’s FOX digital subchannel, FOX 59, in that timeslot.
Boy is WVVA 6 expanding and adding or what?
