WATE will add a morning show for WBXX starting January 12th.

WBXX-TV 20 / Crossville – Knoxville (“CW 20”)
WATE-TV 6 / Knoxville (“WATE 6”)

More morning news is coming to Eastern Tennessee and it starts in 2015. Actually, only 2 months from now.

WBXX 20’s partnership is apparently so strong enough with WATE 6 that they are ready to add a 2-hour morning newscast which leads this question… Why didn’t WATE 6 add a morning show before for WTNZ 43 before WTNZ 43 ended the contract in 2011 ? Nobody knows why.

What we do know is that WBXX 20 will soon add a 2-hour morning newscast from WATE 6 called Good Day Tennessee. The show, which leads as an extension to WATE 6’s Good Morning Tennessee, will run from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and will begin on January 12th of next year, just 2 months from now. The program will feature the same old tradition format, most Americans know and love, which is local news, traffic and weather.

Neal Davis, WBXX 20’s General Manager:

For the past 3 years, WBXX (20) and WATE (6) have enjoyed a strong partnership with our 10:00 p.m. newscast. This agreement fortifies our relationship and allows WBXX (20) to bring an additional two hours of quality news to the people of East Tennessee every weekday morning.

Jamie Foster, news director at WATE 6:

This is a great opportunity to expand our partnership with WBXX (20). Additionally, it allows us to expand our “On Your Side” brand from Good Morning Tennessee right into CW 20’s Good Day Tennessee. It will be a place for people to get all of their breaking news, weather and traffic, but also learn about some of the great events and people who make East Tennessee such a fun place to live.

We thought expansions of the weekend morning and the weekday 4:00 p.m. newscasts was enough for WATE 6. NOPE. They got more for us and we’ll see how this one goes.
