FIRST ON THE BLOG: KGWN targets Eastern Wyoming with its satellite station KSTF, serving Western Nebraska. And for both, more news are shown. I’ll only mention KGWN for this post.
KGWN 5 has recently expanded its news operations by adding 2 more newscasts. The first one is adding a half-hour 5:30 a.m. newscast. The weekday morning newscast now runs from 5:30-7:00 a.m. and now competes fully against KDUH 4 (translator of KOTA 3)’s Good Morning KOTA Territory, KCHY 13 (translator of KCWY 13)’s News 13 Today in Wyoming and KKTQ 16 (translator of KTWO 2)’s K2 News Good Morning Wyoming as well as competing against KFCT 22 (translator of KDVR 31)’s FOX 31 Denver News Good Day Colorado for local morning news in that timeslot in the area. This was not the only expansion though…
… KGWN 5 also added an early evening newscast on weekends in which it never had before. The program airs on weekends at 5:30 p.m., which matches the weekday 5:30 p.m. newscast timeslot. This newscast has no competition, unless if you count KFCT 22’s FOX 31 Denver News at 5:30 for weekend news in that timeslot in the area. We believe that this is KGWN’s first attempt at an early evening weekend newscast.
KGWN 5 is expanding and expanding well.
