Changes in the Charlotte market… Both involve cut-downs.

WBTV 3 / Charlotte (“WBTV”)
WSOC-TV 9 / Charlotte (“Channel 9”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: I have recently checked the TV listings in Charlotte for all local market stations and I realized that 2 stations have cut down on news. 1 is now gone while the other is shortened.

WBTV 3 no longer shows the 8:00 p.m. hour-long primetime newscast on Bounce TV (WBTV-DT2). WBTV News at 8:00 on Bounce TV Charlotte, as it was called, was the only hour-long newscast during the 8:00-10:00 p.m. primetime hours in Charlotte. But it’s no longer on the air as it has been replaced by movies from Bounce TV and starting in the new year, 2 episodes of The Hughleys will take its place at 8:00 p.m.  But this wasn’t the only cut-down…

… Once again, WSOC 9 has shortened its midday newscast to a half-hour. Channel 9 Eyewitness News at Noon was an hour-long midday newscast, but is once again, now a half-hour newscast from 12:00-12:30 p.m. as it now shows Family Feud with Steve Harvey at 12:30 p.m. Channel 9 Eyewitness News at Noon was an hour-long newscast until months ago when Right This Minute took the 12:30 p.m. timeslot. Once RTM moved to their sister station WAXN 64, WSOC 9 once again had their midday newscast for an hour. But now with Family Feud over taking the 12:30 p.m. timeslot, the midday newscast is now a half-hour newscast again.

Not good for those who live in Charlotte and like to receive alot of news throughout the day.
