KAYU debuts “Good Day Spokane” and now competes with KSKN.

KAYU-TV 28 / Spokane, WA – Coeur d’Alene, ID (“FOX 28”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: We were the first source to report back in August that KREM was to debut a 7:00-9:00 a.m. morning newscast for its sister station KSKN. Now that we’re in the new year, KHQ has now done the same for KAYU. In other words, let the competition begin.

Since January 5th, 2015 (yesterday as of this post), KAYU 28 has debuted a new 2-hour morning newscast called Good Day Spokane. The newscast is on weekday mornings from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and features the latest news, traffic and weather to start any viewer’s day. The newscast features Matt Rogers and Kjerstin Bell anchoring with The Weather Authority from meteorologist Leslie Lowe. This newscast is produced by KHQ 6 under a news-service agreement, in which KHQ 6 also produces the nightly half-hour 10:00 p.m. newscast, FOX 28 News First at 10:00.

With this newscast addition, KAYU 28 now competes against KREM 2’s morning newscast on KSKN 22 (KREM 2 Morning News on Spokane’s CW 22) for weekday morning news from 7:00-9:00 a.m. in Spokane.

This market is growing and just like what I said earlier in this post, let the competition begin.
