FIRST ON THE BLOG: It looks like Action News Jacksonville has finally seen some ratings success. We don’t know if that’s true or not, but on WFOX, they have now expanded their weekend morning newscast.
Since this weekend, WFOX 30 has expanded its weekend morning newscast. Action News This Morning on FOX 30 has been expanded by an hour on both days. The program is now on Saturdays from 6:00-10:00 a.m. and on Sundays from 6:00-9:00 a.m. The program is anchored by Erica Bennett with First Alert Weather from Meteorologist Erin Clanahan.
It’s still Jacksonville’s earliest start on weekends. Saturdays, it competes with WJXT 4 from 7:00-10:00 a.m. and WTLV 12 from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Sundays, it competes with WJXT 4 from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and on WJXX 25 from 7:00-7:30 a.m. Again, the weekend morning newscasts are not simulcast on WJAX 47 due to airing CBS News, E/I, religious and station programming, which includes Action News Sunday, the stations’ local weekly public affairs program.
Again, idk if this expansion is a part of some ratings success at Action News Jacksonville, but its another good move for the usually 3rd-place news operation in the market.
Btw, this is not a major change, but WFOX 30 has also started simulcasting WJAX 47’s 11:00 p.m. weeknight newscast to compliment the existing 10:00 p.m. newscast. This doesn’t apply to weekends however.
