FIRST ON THE BLOG: The expansion to 4:30 a.m. continues and thanks to Jeremy who sent me this tip, its in a smaller-sized market this time. In fact, they have never had this before.
Since January 12th, WJBF 6 has become the first and now ONLY station to air a 4:30 a.m. morning newscast. Titled WJBF NewsChannel 6’s Good Morning Augusta at 4:30 a.m., the program features the regular crew from the 5:00-7:00 a.m. shift, which includes longtime WJBF veteran Mary Morrison and anchor Chris Kane. LIVE VIPIR 6 Weather is done by Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth and Julie Parise delivers LIVE morning reports throughout the newscast.
Again, WJBF 6 are the ONLY ones up at 4:30 a.m., since WRDW 12 and WAGT 26 are still bringing viewers in the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area), up at 5:00 a.m. while WFXG 54 only produces a primetime newscast at 10:00 p.m. Have I also mentioned that this is history for the #112 DMA market in the USA? And its the home to the legendary golf event, The Masters from Augusta National.
Anyways, the CSRA now has a 4:30 a.m. newscast. Congrats, WJBF 6! Now try to get those viewers up and awake if you can.
