FIRST ON THE BLOG: Just to let you know, this is seen on the ABC (DT1) and FOX (DT2) stations in Great Falls, Helena, Butte, Bozeman, Missoula and Kalispell.
Just recently, KFBB 5 (the main producers for this show) has added Wake-Up Montana, a new morning show for basically most of the state. The program airs weekday mornings from 5:00-7:00 a.m. and is carried on the main station, which is ABC and also on the FOX station, their digital subchannel. The program is anchored by veteran Montana anchorwoman Becky Hillier and Weather from Meteorologist Larry Rice (yes, that Larry Rice who used to work at KIRO 7 in Seattle in the 90s).
The stations that carry this program (in detail) are:
- KFBB 5.1 and 5.2 / Great Falls
- KHBB-LD 21.1 and 21.2 / Helena
- KWYB 18.1 and 18.2 / Butte
- KWYB-LD 28.1 and 28.2 / Bozeman
- KTMF 23.1 and 23.2 / Missoula
- KTMF-LD 42.1 and 42.2 / Kalispell
They are all owned by Cowles Publishing Company, the same company that owns KHQ-TV 6 in Spokane, KNDO 23 and KNDU 25 in the Tri-Cities of Washington. Don’t believe in Wikipedia right now because it says Gannett Company when in reality, they have never been owned the company itself.
This is the ONLY local newscast to start at 5:00 a.m. in Great Falls and Helena as the ONLY other morning newscast in those markets, Montana This Morning on KRTV 3 and KXLH 9, both start at 5:30 a.m. In Butte/Bozeman and Missoula/Kalispell, it competes with KTVM 6/KDBZ-CD 6 and KECI 13/KCFW 9 respectively for local morning news at 5:00 a.m.
CORRECTION (as of 6:40 a.m. on 1/21/2015): The top is the original post, but thanks to Jessica Hilgendorf, who is a web producer and photojournalist for KULR 8 in Billings, MT (its about time I get noticed in someway!), the program is actually produced out of the KULR 8 studios in Billings. She also mentions that KULR 8 is the only NBC-affiliated station from the Cowles Publishing Company in Montana, but frankly, I knew that already. 😛 I just wanted to mention the other sister stations.
Anyways, thank you Jessica Hilgendorf for noticing! and if you like to, follow our blog! (She’s @JessicaKULR on Twitter)
