Even more changes in Central Texas news…

KAGS-LD 23 / Bryan – College Station, TX (“KAGS-HD”)
KXXV-TV 25 / Waco – Temple – Killeen, TX (“NewsChannel 25”)
KRHD-CD 40 / Bryan – College Station, TX (“ABC 40”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Well, even more changes has happened in Central Texas and the Brazos Valley. This market changes alot. After all, I last checked it in December of 2014.

Anyways, KAGS 23 now has its morning newscast starting at 4:30 a.m. KAGS-HD News at 4:30 a.m. is the second newscast up at 4:30 a.m. in the Brazos Valley, after KXXV 25’s sister semi-satellite station KRHD 40 simulcasting Good Morning Texas. KBTX 3 still starts their morning newscast, Brazos Valley This Morning at 5:30 a.m. Meanwhile, speaking of KRHD 40…

… KRHD 40 no longer airs ABC 40 Nightbeat at 10:00 p.m. The 35-minute newscast that’s focused on the Brazos Valley is no longer shown and is replaced by Hot in Cleveland, the successful TV Land show starring Betty White. But on the upside, KRHD 40 is now simulcast NewsChannel 25 at 5:00 from KXXV 25. However, this now brings KRHD 40 with no local news programming that targets the Brazos Valley as all local newscasts from KRHD 40 are now simulcast from KXXV 25 (Weekdays from 4:30-7:00, 11:00-11:30 a.m. and 5:00-5:30 p.m. plus all weekend newscasts) and it targets Central Texas news.

So there’s a good side and a downside, depending on where you live in this market – DMA #87.

    • They kinda did. It’s called the “Brazos Valley” market which serves Bryan – College Station and separately serves that market, but is considered a semi-market, just like how Manchester, NH is a semi market of Boston.
