FIRST ON THE BLOG: To everybody who watches television news in Roanoke… are you ready for more weekend morning news? For DMA #67, its disappointing that it took this long for another station to add a pair. But now, its coming… thanks to WSLS. Thank you Jeremy for this tip.
Starting Saturday February 28th, WSLS 10 will become the second station in the market to add a weekend morning newscast. With the newly rebranded title WSLS 10 Virginia Today, the station will air weekend morning newscasts on both Saturdays and Sundays. The program will air on Saturdays from 6:00-7:00 and 9:00-10:00 a.m., right before and after The Today Show. On Sundays, the program will air from 6:00-8:00 a.m., also before The Today Show. The program will not compete against WDBJ 7’s WDBJ 7 Mornin’, but will offer another weekend morning news option as it becomes the second to do so.
We don’t know as of yet who will handle the news and weather duties, but it will bring a newscast that is desperately deserved to a market that needed weekend morning news, since times are changing now and that people’s lives are getting much busier earlier.
Again, why hasn’t WSLS 10 or WSET 13 noticed that until now? At least WSLS 10 will give it a shot. Good for them!
