WEVV hiring local staffers for local news operations by the 3Q.

WEVV-TV 44 / Evansville, IN (“CBS 44”)

We’ve been following the developments surrounding the creation and the eventual launch of the WEVV news department. I was supposed to post this days ago, but forgot. I have the time now, so here are a few more details…

… According to the latest job postings, they currently list for morning and evening news anchors; a sign that WEVV will be adding news in the morning and in the evening, as well as on weekends. How much is what we don’t know, yet. Also, we don’t know what newscasts will air on its digital subchannel WEVV-DT 44.2 / W47EE-D 47.1, currently known as FOX 44. The station is ready to relaunch a news department after a 14-year absence, thanks to the Bayou City Broadcasting of Evansville, which is a part of Bayou City Broadcasting, which now owns WEVV 44 from what could’ve been potential owner Nexstar Broadcast Group, which had to sell WEVV 44 due to the market having fewer than 8 full-power stations in which there are supposed to be 8 different owners for each station.

Here are the job positions that the news department wants to fill by June of 2015, according to WEVV.com:

  • Morning News Anchors
  • Evening News Anchors
  • Morning Meteorologist
  • Evening Meteorologist
  • MMJ Reporter
  • Weekend News Anchor/Producer/Weekday Reporter
  • Newscast Producer
  • Newscast Producer/Reporter
  • Weekend Weather Forecaster/Weekday Reporter
  • Videographer – FT & PT
  • Web Producer
  • Newscast Producer/Web Producer
  • Sports Director/Evening Sports Anchor
  • Weekend Sports Anchor/Sports Reporter
  • Newscast Director – FT & PT
  • Assignment Editor

The job listings page also says this:

“If you want to be part of a once in a career opportunity to launch and grow local news on both a CBS and FOX affiliate, we want to hear from you… We are looking for professionals that want to make an immediate impact and a difference in the community. We are looking for a team that will bring a new, fresh, and dynamic product to the market place.”

So if you’re reading this blog and want to become a part of the news team, send in your resume and credentials listed on the following website: http://www.wevv.com/jobs/news-staff

Good luck everybody! And watch the new news product from WEVV 44 coming in either July, August or September of 2015 (Q3 in business terms).
