Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #17.

WNEM-DT 5.2 / Bay City – Saginaw – Flint (“My 5”)
WSMH 66 / Flint – Saginaw – Bay City (“FOX 66”)

Another week of newscasts debuting this week and only on one market… Mid-Michgan. This has been more than 1 and 1/2 months of promotion and possibly longer to get these newscasts moved / debuted:

Monday April 27th, 2015

  • 10:00-11:00 PM: WNEM-TV 5 News at 10:00 on My 5

WNEM in Mid-Michigan. The station will move its 10:00 p.m. newscast from WSMH 66 to WNEM-DT 5.2, otherwise known as My 5. The newscast will remain an hour-long, 7 nights a week.

  • 10:00-10:30 PM: FOX 66 News at 10:00

WSMH in Mid-Michigan. To replace the hour-long 10:00 p.m. news from WNEM 5, WSMH 66 will air a new half-hour nightly newscast at 10:00 p.m. that is produced by WEYI 25, since that station provides services by Sinclair and WSMH 66 is already owned outright by Sinclair. Sinclair didn’t want to pay more money to WNEM for producing the news because of common ownership from WEYI 25 with WSMH 66, therefore making the move. It will start out as a half-hour 10:00 p.m. newscast, before evaluated and possibly expanded to a full hour again. Dave Bondy and Sadie Hughes will anchor the new newscast with NBC 25 Weather from chief meteorologist Ty Shesky and sports with sports director Tom Eschen. Jennifer Profitt will deliver the latest consumer news for the program.

That’s it for now. If more, we will surely let you know. Enjoy this upcoming week.
