A small minor newscast change… #32

KTVX 4 / Salt Lake City (“ABC 4 Utah”)
KUCW 30 / Ogden – Salt Lake City (“Utah’s CW 30”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A minor change to report on Utah and another great tip from Jeremy and it looks like another station has replaced The Daily Buzz with a simulcast of a local morning newscast.

KTVX 4 now simulcasts the 5:00-7:00 a.m. portion of its weekday morning newscast ABC 4 Utah News – Good Morning Utah to its sister station KUCW 30. The newscast, anchored by Brian Carlson and Emily Clark with ABC 4 Utah Pinpoint Weather from Meteorologist Curtis Ray, marks a return to KUCW 30.

Back in September of 2010, KTVX 4 started producing a 2-hour extension from 7:00-9:00 a.m. that was seen on KUCW 30. Due to low ratings, it was canceled in 2012. But now that The Daily Buzz is canceled, KUCW 30 had to find alternative programming to replace the now-defunct program and the simulcast of Good Morning Utah was possibly their easiest choice to fill the timeslot there. Not to mention that KUCW 30 also airs a half-hour weeknight-only newscast at 9:00 p.m. that is also produced by KTVX 4.

Other than that, no other major additions or expansions to report at this time.

  1. Since KTVX is now one of the fastest growing TV stations in Salt Lake City and one of the top rated news stations in the SLC Market I hope the station can get Saturday and Sunday Morning newscasts.

      • KTVX has expanded its news quite a bit for being a last place news station with news at 4:30am newscast, an hour long 11:00am midday newscast and 4:00p, 4:30p, and 6:00p news. Before KTVX used to have their main evening newscast at 5:30p before moving it to 6:00pm and adding a 5:00pm newscast. At one time KTVX had the least hours of local news in the SLC Market.
