Newscasts debuting this weekend… Edition #13

KTLA 5 / Los Angeles (“KTLA 5”)
KSNV 3 / Las Vegas (“Channel 3”)
KLAF-LD 46 and KADN-DT 15.2 / Lafayette, LA (“Acadiana’s KLAF TV”)

Another weekend of newscasts debuting this weekend. Again, by day and time order (in EDT):

Saturday July 4th, 2015 (The 4th of July, 2015)

  • 7:00-8:00 AM: News 3 Today at 7:00 a.m.

KSNV in Las Vegas. The station is shuffling its weekend morning newscasts and on Saturdays, its down to just one hour at 7:00 a.m. The station will be competing against KVVU 5 (FOX)’s FOX 5 News This Morning during this hour.

  • 6:30-7:00 PM: NBC 33 News at 6:30
  • 10:00-10:35 PM: NBC 33 News at 10:00

KLAF-LD in Lafayette. The station will continue with the simulcasts of local newscasts from WVLA 33 in Baton Rouge. The weekend editions debut this weekend. The 6:30 p.m. newscast is by themselves, while the 10:00 p.m. news competes against KATC 3 (ABC), KLFY 10 (CBS) and Lake Charles-based KPLC 7 (NBC).

Sunday July 5th, 2015

  • 7:00-8:00 AM: News 3 Today at 7:00 a.m.

KSNV in Las Vegas. This time on Sundays, the broadcast is two hours from 6:00-8:00 a.m.

  • 9:00-10:00 AM: KTLA 5 Morning News at 9:00 a.m.

KTLA in Los Angeles. KTLA 5 will only be able to expand their Sunday edition by another hour for now, as the Saturday edition can’t expand yet, due to KTLA 5’s commitment to air The CW’s E/I block on Saturday mornings, starting at 9:00 a.m., as part of The FCC’s rules for stations to show children’s or E/I programming for at least three hours each week. This hour will compete against KABC 7 (ABC)’s ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 9:00 a.m.

  • 5:00-5:30 PM: NBC 33 News at 5:00
  • 10:00-10:35 PM: NBC 33 News at 10:00

KLAF-LD in Lafayette. See above. These simulcasts will continue until the station debuts their own local news department in Early 2016. The 5:00 p.m. news competes against KPLC 7 while the 10:00 p.m. newscast competes against them, KATC 3 (ABC) and KLFY 10 (CBS).
