RUMORS ONLY: The following information we’re about to give you are just rumors, but we are pretty confident about the information we will give you. And remember, if confirmed, then you’ll know where you heard it FIRST… on The Changing Newscasts Blog.

We have heard of some rumors out there that WEVV 44 will debut its local news department, titled 44 News on Monday, August 3rd, 2015 (a month from today). The new news operation would compete against long-time established operations WFIE 14 (NBC)’s 14 News and WEHT 25 (ABC)/WTVW 7 (CW)’s Eyewitness News. This has not been confirmed as of yet, but we have received this information from a Prezi slideshow online that promotes a local business who will sponsor the new news operation. That’s not all… we also received information as to when 44 News will be broadcast. And it could be broadcast on BOTH the CBS and FOX stations. Here’s the potential newscast times:

  • Weekdays:
    • 4:30-5:00 AM: 44 News at 4:30 a.m. (CBS 44 and FOX 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News Sunrise)
    • 5:00-6:00 AM: 44 News at 5:00 a.m. (CBS 44 and FOX 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News Sunrise and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News Daybreak)
    • 6:00-7:00 AM: 44 News at 6:00 a.m. (CBS 44 and FOX 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News Sunrise and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News Daybreak)
    • 7:00-8:00 AM: 44 News at 7:00 a.m. (FOX 44 – would compete against WTVW 7’s Eyewitness News Daybreak)
    • 8:00-9:00 AM: 44 News at 8:00 a.m. (FOX 44 – would compete against WTVW 7’s Eyewitness News Daybreak)
    • 12:00-12:30 PM: 44 News at Noon (CBS 44 – would compete against WTVW 7’s Eyewitness News at Noon)
    • 5:00-5:30 PM: 44 News at 5:00 (CBS 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News at 5:00 and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News at 5:00)
    • 6:00-6:30 PM: 44 News at 6:00 (CBS 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News at 6:00 and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News at 6:00)
    • 9:00-10:00 PM: 44 News at 9:00 (FOX 44 – would compete against WTVW 7’s Eyewitness News at 9:00)
    • 10:00-10:35 PM: 44 News at 10:00 (CBS 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News at 10:00 and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News at 10:00)
  • Weekends:
    • 9:00-10:00 PM: 44 News at 9:00 (FOX 44 – would compete against WTVW 7’s Eyewitness News at 9:00)
    • 10:00-10:35 PM: 44 News at 10:00 (CBS 44 – would compete against WFIE 14’s 14 News at 10:00 and WEHT 25’s Eyewitness News at 10:00)

Again, these are potential newscast times. But if they are confirmed by WEVV 44, then you know where you heard it FIRST.

The evening news team composes of Amanda Decker (formerly from Independent News Network), Chris Cerenelli (formerly from WTVF 5 (CBS) – NewsChannel 5 in Nashville), Chief Meteorologist Chad Evans (formerly from WLFI 18 (CBS) – News 18 in Lafayette, IN and most known as former meteorologist at WEHT 25) and Sports Director Andrew Keesee (formerly from KWES 9 (NBC) – Newswest 9 in Midland-Odessa, TX).

The morning and midday news team will be composed of Shelby Coates (formerly from WSPA 7 (CBS) – 7 On Your Side in Spartanburg-Greenville-Anderson, SC-Asheville, NC), Melissa Schroeder (formerly from KARK 4 (NBC)/KLRT 16 (FOX) – KARK 4 News/FOX 16 News in Little Rock) and Meteorologist Jackie Brown (formerly from KXLY 4 (ABC) – KXLY 4 News and KXLY 920 AM (News/Talk) –  KXLY Newsradio 920 in Spokane, WA-Coeur d’Alene, ID)

All of this information (except for the news teams) have been unconfirmed by WEVV 44, themselves. But we’re pretty sure that this is the right information. Oh and by the way, 44 News will be broadcast in full 16:9 HD, becoming the newest and the last local news organization to do so (after WFIE 14 and WEHT 25/WTVW 7).

So again, if confirmed, then you know where you heard it FIRST. We’ll keep an eye on this and we’ll post an update to let you know any further. This could be the biggest story we’ve ever done (since TVSpy, TVNewser, TVNewsCheck, FTVLive or any other media site has this information). Stay tuned!

  1. Very impressive news schedule normally when a news operation starts its starts out wimpy with a few newscasts. WEVV-TV if the rumors are true will have a full news schedule with a full morning newscast starting at 4:30 am a noon newscast, and a full evening news block with 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm newscasts and a full morning news schedule on their FOX station.

    • Yes it will. They said “… coming in August,” very close to, what I think, is my prediction date of August 3rd, 2015. If correct, then you know where you heard it FIRST!
