WRDW is now up “This Morning” at 4:30 a.m., as well in Augusta.

WRDW-TV 12 / Augusta, GA – Aiken, SC (“News 12”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: If you’re looking for more early morning news in Augusta, then you got it, thanks to WRDW. And let the competition between WJBF and WRDW, really heat up now.

Thanks to a tip from Jeremy and a tweet from WRDW 12’s Rheya Spinger (@RheyaWRDW):

WRDW 12, since Monday August 3rd, 2015, has broadcast News 12 This Morning, a half-hour earlier at 4:30 a.m. The new half-hour extension now joins and now fully competes against WJBF 6 (ABC)’s WJBF NewsChannel 6 – Good Morning Augusta (which became the first to expand to 4:30 a.m., in January 2015) for local morning news in that timeslot, while WAGT 26 (NBC)’s NBC 26 News Today will remain to start at 5:00 a.m. and WFXG 54 (FOX) doesn’t have a morning newscast, since their nightly 10:00 p.m. newscast is produced by their sister station, WTOC 11 (CBS) in Savannah.

The morning newscast is anchored by WRDW veteran Meredith Anderson and Danielle Hughes with 12 On Your Side Weather from AMS & NWA/Membered Meteorologist Tim Strong. The morning newscast is most widely known for young kid reporter Henry Stephens, the 8-year-old who does Henry’s Corner on most mornings and has been featured on Steve Harvey, plenty of times.

So if you’re looking for more morning news in Augusta, then you got it. WRDW 12 now starts at 4:30 a.m., just like WJBF 6, so… good luck!
