Newscasts debuting this weekend… Edition #15

WALA-TV 10 / Mobile, AL – Pensacola, FL (“FOX 10”)
WEVV-TV 44 / Evansville, IN – Owensboro, KY (“CBS 44”)

Finally, a weekend of newscasts that will be debuting and here’s that list by day and time order:

Saturday August 8th, 2015 (later today by the time of this post; CORRECTION – originally said July, my bad.):

  • 6:00-7:00 AM: FOX 10 News in the Morning at 6:00 a.m.
  • 7:00-8:00 AM: FOX 10 News in the Morning at 7:00 a.m.

WALA in Mobile. The station is adding weekend morning newscasts for the very first time and will be anchored by Candace Murphy and FOX 10 StormTracker Weather with Meteorologist Matt Barrentine. WEAR 3 (ABC) and WKRG 5 (CBS) already airs weekend morning news, in some form of competition against WALA 10’s new weekend morning newscast.

  • 9:00-10:00 PM: 44 News at 9:00 on FOX 44 (44.2/47.1 – FOX)
  • 10:00-10:35 PM: 44 News at 10:00 (44.1 – CBS)

WEVV in Evansville. The station’s news launch product continues into the weekend with just two weekend newscasts for now. The 9:00 p.m. news competes against WTVW 7 (CW) and the 10:00 p.m. news against WFIE 14 (NBC) and WEHT 25 (ABC).

  1. WALA-TV actually had a local news program for Saturday mornings added to their broadcast operation at least once before: back in 1994 (it was titled “Action News 10 Saturday Mornings”).


    • Here are a few more details about this local news program WALA-TV had before:

      It was set to be broadcast between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
      The program set to precede it was “Today”, the network news program from the National Broadcasting Company (WALA-TV was affiliated with them in 1994).
