WCMH is moving its “Midday” newscast to 11:00 a.m.

WCMH-TV 4 / Columbus (“NBC 4”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Listen up, Central Ohio. If you watch WCMH for news, then you gonna wanna pay attention to this post, especially if you watch during the midday hours.

Starting next week, on Tuesday September 8th, 2015, WCMH 4 will be moving its midday newscast, NBC 4 Midday, from 12:00 Noon to an hour earlier, at 11:00 a.m. It will remain as a half-hour newscast because the station will continue to air Daytime Columbus, as that program also moves up an hour earlier to 11:30 a.m. In regards to local news, WCMH 4 will become the home to Central Ohio’s ONLY local newscast at 11:00 a.m. It will also remain as one of Central Ohio’s two local newscasts, airing for a half-hour at midday (with WBNS-10TV (CBS) also airing half-hour midday news at 12:00 Noon. WSYX 6 (ABC) is the only ones airing for a full-hour at 12:00 Noon.)

NBC 4 Midday is currently anchored by Katie Ferrell and Mike Jackson with StormTeam 4 Weather from NWS/Membered Meteorologist Bob Nunnally.

Take note if you live in Central Ohio and love WCMH 4, because they are moving their midday newscast up by an hour, next week. Keep your eyes out on this one. (If you can, let WCMH 4 viewers know. I don’t think they know this yet and the station hasn’t said a thing yet, so if anything, this is a FIRST ON THE BLOG on The Changing Newscasts Blog.)

  1. The Columbus TV Market should have local news at 4:00pm. The Columbus TV Market might be the TV Market in the top 50 TV Markets in the Grand United States of America not to have local news at 4:00pm. If the Columbus TV Market gets local 4:00pm news it would likely be WBNS-TV that would get a 4:00pm newscast since they are the top rated TV station in the Columbus Market. I was hoping WBNS would get a 4:00pm newscast when Oprah was cancelled since WNBS carried Oprah and a lot of TV stations replaced Oprah with 4:00pm newscasts. I wonder why the Columbus TV Market does not have 4:00pm news? The other three C’s in Ohio have at least 2 TV stations with local news at 4:00pm, Cleveland and Cincy

    • Yeah. Sad. WCMH 4 used to be under NBC O&O ownership until it was sold (along with WVTM 13) to Media General in 2006 (I think). Today, Media General still owns WCMH 4 while WVTM 13 has since been sold to Hearst Television.

  2. I don’t know I heard the NBC O&O stations have more national and international newscasts on their local news. What is the news like on WTVJ in Miami which is NBC O&O does it have good local news content on it or is there more national and international news on the newscasts on WTVJ? KRQE in my city of ABQ is owned by Media General and KRQE has good local news content and it tries to outdo every other news station in ABQ when it comes to reporting news.

    • No, that’s not the case because they already know that NBC Nightly News will deliver all the other national and international news stories that WTVJ may have missed. Usually, WTVJ only covers a small portion throughout the day, thanks to their NBC News program counterparts.

  3. I’m old, set in my ways.I’ve watched channel 4 News for years. I liked it coming on at noon when I eat lunch. Guess I’ll have to start watching 6 or 10. Can’t make everyone happy. 😦
