KXII has discontinued its “Good Day” for the FOX subchannel, but adds a 5:00-7:00 a.m. simulcast.

KXII 12 / Sherman, TX – Ada, OK (“CBS 12”)
KXII-DT 12.3 / Sherman, TX – Ada, OK (“FOX 12”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Sorry Eastern Texoma. You no longer have a 7:00 a.m. morning newscast.

Just recently and confirmed to me by KXII 12 in a Facebook comment on their page, KXII 12 has recently discontinued its hour-long 7:00 a.m. morning newscast for KXII-DT 12.3, otherwise known as FOX 12. The program, which was known as News 12 – Good Day at 7:00 a.m., was the ONLY option for local news at that timeslot in the market.

However, the subchannel really never lost a morning newscast. The FOX subchannel now simulcasts the main channel KXII 12’s morning newscast from 5:00-7:00 a.m. with the program known as News 12 A.M. The newscast competes against the last two hours of KTEN 10 (NBC/CW)’s KTEN News Today (KTEN is up at 4:30 a.m., while KXII 12 is not) and the entire broadcast of KTEN-DT 10.3 (ABC)’s ABC Texoma News – Good Morning Texoma (5:30-7:00 a.m.).

So, a discontinuation, but also an expansion. That’s how I see this.
