FIRST ON THE BLOG: There has been some changes on Baton Rouge television, especially the weekend news on two stations.
First, WAFB 9 has added a half-hour to its weekend 10:00 p.m. newscast (again). WAFB 9 is now home to the area’s only hour-long 10:00 p.m. newscast on weekends with an additional half-hour at 10:30 p.m., thanks to 9 News at 10:30.
And finally, WVLA 33 has moved its Saturday 6:30 p.m. newscast to 6:00 p.m. after a few weeks of having it on at 6:30 p.m. during the move of the weeknight newscast to 6:00 p.m. NBC 33 News at 6:00 is now seen on weeknights and Saturday. This also affects the Lafayette TV market, because again, KLAF-LD 46 (NBC) in that market is simulcasting WVLA 33’s newscasts until their own news department is launched in January of 2016.
So a short summary of what’s been going on at weekends in Baton Rouge. If you watch any of these stations, schedule your times accordingly to watch local news because there’s barely any on weekends in this market.
