KVRR is expanding its Sunday night newscast to an hour.

FIRST ON THE BLOG: There’s not much for an audience of weekend news in the Red River Valley in North Dakota. However, KVRR will deliver more starting tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow, Sunday September 13th, 2015, KVRR 15 (and its satellite stations) is expanding its Sunday night newscast at 9:00 p.m. to an hour. KVRR News at 9:00 is already the only primetime newscast in the area and it has been since its 2000 debut. With this expansion, KVRR 15 will have an hour-long newscast at 9:00 p.m. on Sundays-Fridays and will keep its 9:00 p.m. newscast on Saturdays, as a half-hour newscast, a trend that is rarely seen, but also adopted by KFOX 14 (FOX) in El Paso and WALA 10 (FOX) in Mobile.

KVRR 15 also mentioned that it will add a sports show on Friday nights at 9:30 p.m., beginning with this Friday September 18th, 2015, called KVRR Sports Extra, providing sports scores, highlights and analysis from around the area and across the nation. They call it as a sports show where “you get your sports fix early, to start to your weekend.”

A very good time for the Red River Valley, indeed. It’s nice to see KVRR 15 finally expand for once. And hopefully, we see more of them soon.
