WJFW adds a half-hour afternoon newscast at 4:00 p.m., the area’s first.

WJFW-TV 12 / Rhinelander – Wausau (“NBC 12”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Central Wisconsin has always had a local newscast start at 5:00 p.m. That was until this past Monday.

Starting on Monday September 14th, 2015, WJFW 12 added a half-hour local newscast at 4:00 p.m. with Newswatch 12 – Up North at 4:00. The brand new half-hour newscast is the ONLY early-evening newscast to start at 4:00 p.m. in the area, but is a half-hour as the station airs Jeopardy! at 4:30 p.m.

WJFW 12’s new 4:00 p.m. newscast is the first-ever newscast to debut in Central Wisconsin at 4:00 p.m. and is considered a traditional newscast because it carries the latest news and weather in that un-traditional timeslot for a market, this size. For those of you worried, NO. WJFW 12 will continue to air NewsWatch 12 at 5:00 and 6:00 on weeknights, as always.

“Up North at 4:00” is WJFW 12’s newest afternoon newscast and the ONLY local newscast on at 4:00 p.m. in the area (Image Courtesy: WJFW 12’s Facebook Page at “WJFW NewsWatch 12”)

WJFW 12 is home to the area’s least-produced amount of local news in the area, but at least the station has gained some traction with this new newscast. I say, good for WJFW 12 and the entire crew there.
