FIRST ON THE BLOG: Not only will WXXV add a morning show next week, but also, Sunday night newscasts.
Starting Sunday September 27th, 2015, WXXV 25 will add two half-hour newscasts on Sunday nights, one at 9:00 p.m. on WXXV FOX 25 (WXXV 25.1) and one at 10:00 p.m. on WXXV NBC 25 (WXXV 25.2). News 25 at 9:00 will now run from Sundays-Fridays on the main channel and is still the ONLY primetime newscast in the area, as long-time #1 leader WLOX 13 (ABC/CBS) doesn’t offer one. The Sunday edition of News 25 at 10:00 will compete against WLOX 13’s hour-long 10:00 p.m. newscast.
WXXV 25’s News Director, Joe Sullivan on the launch of weekday morning news:
“When we initially launched back in 2013, we had a goal to have a morning show and weekend programming. We’re really happy to provide local consumers with the perfect way to start their day.”
As I told you before, WXXV 25 is launching a weekday morning newscast from 6:00-7:00 a.m. on the NBC channel and from 7:00-8:00 a.m. on the FOX channel. The new morning newscast will feature Katarina Luketich and Bryan Kennedy updating viewers on local and national news stories. Both will be joined by Weather Edge 25 NWA/Membered Meteorologist Rob Knight, as well as LIVE morning reporter Laurene Callander.
What Joe Sullivan said about the morning newscast’s team:
“The energy with the team is great. They’ve been preparing for this for the past month.”
WXXV 25’s News 25 Today anchor Bryan Kennedy:
“It’s a great opportunity for the team to tap into the community even more than it is now. It’ll also give our viewers who usually watch our night newscasts an opportunity to tune in and catch us in the mornings. The morning crew is chomping at the bit to go live Sept. 21.”
Joe Sullivan on launch of weekday morning news and Sunday night news:
“Almost two years to the day of our launch we are unveiling these amazing new shows. The station couldn’t be more excited.”
More news coming to WXXV 25. An exciting time for TV news in the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
