FIRST ON THE BLOG: WZVN is not a usual big player in local news, but will try their hands on offering a local newscast that nobody else has. How? By moving your mid-morning newscast.
Since Monday September 7th, 2015 (and I knew nothing about this), WZVN 26 (Cable 7; will use 7 for the rest of the post) has moved its weekday mid-morning hour-long 9:00 a.m. newscast to 10:00 a.m. What this means is that WZVN 26 is home to the ONLY local newscast on at that time in the area with ABC 7 Morning News at 10:00 a.m. The newscast is anchored by Christina Carilla, Rob Evans and StormWarn 7 Weather from Meteorologist Cody Murphy.
With this move, Southwest Florida now has access to LIVE local news from 4:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (4:30-5:00 a.m. from WINK 11; CBS and WBBH 20/Cable 2; NBC, 5:00-7:00 a.m. from WINK 11, WBBH 2, WZVN 7 and WFTX 36/Cable 4; FOX, 7:00-8:00 a.m. from WXCW 46/Cable 6; CW and WFTX 4, 8:00-10:00 a.m. from WXCW 6, 10:00-11:00 a.m. from WZVN 7, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. from WBBH 2 and 12:00-12:30 p.m. from WINK 11)
This is not WZVN 7’s first time at 10:00 a.m. It did so once before around 2007, but was discontinued in 2008, but later came back eventually at 9:00 a.m. Now in 2015, its back to the original timeslot where it was once held before.
So more morning news is apparently good news for Southwest Florida and now WZVN 7 gives you another option for this.
