A small minor newscast change… #50

WIVB-TV 4 / Buffalo (“WIVB 4”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small minor change took place in Western New York (Buffalo) and it involves weekend mornings.

WIVB 4 has moved its Wake-Up! show on weekends from its previous 7:00-9:00 a.m. timeslot to now its current 6:00-8:00 a.m. timeslot. This now leaves Buffalo without an 8:00 a.m. morning newscast on weekends, as WIVB 4 previously delivered.

However, it now competes against the first hour of WGRZ 2 (NBC)’s Channel 2 News Daybreak on Saturdays while the second hour is all by themselves. On Sundays, WIVB 4 starts a half-hour earlier (6:00 a.m.) than WGRZ 2’s morning newscast (6:30 a.m.) while both compete at 7:00 a.m. WKBW 7 (ABC) doesn’t air a weekend morning newscast at all.

But other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report at this time.

  1. In a WMFL universe the Buffalo TV Market would have a WMFL owned TV station the WMFL owned station in real life is WBKW-TV 7 in a WMFL universe WBKW would be Buffalo: WBNY ** Channel 7 (Independent; Channel 7 Eyewitness News) Also across the border where you can see Toronto from Buffalo Toronto, ON, Canada in a WMFL universe would own TV stations in Canada and the WMLF TV station in Toronto would be Toronto: CTON ** Channel 9 (Independent; CTON 9 News)
