WTEN is now up “in the Morning” at 4:30 a.m.

WTEN 10 / Albany – Schenectady – Troy (“10 ABC”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: WTEN has now done something that many other stations have done for a year or two now… a local morning newscast at 4:30 a.m.

Since Monday September 28th, 2015, WTEN 10 has expanded their weekday morning newscast, News 10 ABC in the Morning, to 4:30 a.m. The new half-hour extension joins WRGB 6 (CBS) and the CBS 6 Morning News as the ONLY other station to air a local morning newscast at 4:30 a.m. in New York’s Capital Region. This also leaves WNYT 13 (NBC)’s NewsChannel 13 Today as the ONLY station to continue to start at 5:00 a.m.

This new half-hour extension is anchored by Christina Arangio and Ryan Peterson with News 10 StormTracker Weather from AMS-CBM/Sealed Meteorologist Nick Johnston and LIVE morning and social media trending reports from Nicol Lally.

WTEN’s morning news team with “News 10 ABC in the Morning,” now expanded to 4:30 a.m.

But unlike the morning newscast on WTEN 10, which is also simulcast on WXXA 23 (FOX), the new 4:30 a.m. half-hour extension is NOT simulcast on that station, neither is the 5:00 a.m. half-hour. The simulcast on WXXA 23 starts at 5:30 a.m. and continues with the extra 2 hours, solely on WXXA 23, until 9:00 a.m.

The longest time-consuming morning newscast is now on even longer, which means more local news in the morning. Good for New York’s Capital Region, IMO.

  1. In a WMFL universe Albany, NY would have a WMFL owned TV station Albany – Schenectady – Troy: WAST ** Channel 6 (Independent; News 6)

  2. What news station is the top most watched station in the Albany, NY Market? I wonder if Time Warner Cable News Channel is put in the viewership ratings or if its just regular over the air broadcast stations?
