FIRST ON THE BLOG: We don’t go to much news about Eastern North Carolina, but this time, we are thanks to an expansion from one of WCTI’s weekday newscasts.
Just recently, WCTI 12 has expanded their weekday morning newscast by adding an hour to their sister station (by SSA) WFXI 8 / WYDO 14. NewsChannel 12 This Morning at 7:00 a.m. on FOX Eastern Carolina can now be seen on the FOX stations on weekday mornings from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and is the extension to WCTI 12’s weekday morning newscast. This is the ONLY local newscast on at 7:00 a.m. in Eastern North Carolina as long-time leader WITN 7 (NBC/MyTV) or WNCT 9 (CBS/CW) doesn’t do one.
This newscast is produced by WCTI 12 because WFXI 8 / WYDO 14 are owned by Esteem Broadcasting, LLC, but are operated by Bonten Media Group, which owns WCTI 12, under a shared services agreement (SSA). WCTI 12 already produces a primetime newscast for WFXI 8 / WYDO 14 that’s seen at 10:00 p.m. for an hour-long on weeknights and a half-hour on weekends. This is only WFXI 8 / WYDO 14’s second newscast as WCTI 12 continues to air most of its newscasts over on that station, themselves. But as I’m currently aware, this looks like to be the first morning newscast aired after 7:00 a.m. in Eastern North Carolina.
There wasn’t much details on this, but for the area to finally receive a 7:00 a.m. morning newscast, this was well needed. Well done, WCTI 12 for giving viewers another option in the morning, even if it had to be on your sister station. Well done, indeed!
