WTVA and WLOV bring more morning news to North Mississippi.

WTVA 9 / Tupelo – Columbus – West Point, MS (“WTVA”)
WLOV-TV 27 / West Point – Columbus – Tupelo, MS (“WLOV”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Here’s something you didn’t come to expect from an area like North Mississippi… More morning news. Yes, you heard me right and here’s the details.

Just recently, WTVA 9 (NBC/ABC) has expanded their morning newscast to 4:30 a.m. WTVA News Today now runs from 4:30-7:00 a.m. and the extra half-hour competes with WCBI 4 (CBS/MyTV/CW)’s already established newscast at 4:30 a.m. in the market with WCBI News Early Sunrise. But that’s not the only addition made…

WLOV 27 (FOX) has added their first-ever morning newscast, produced by WTVA 9 because WLOV 27 is operated under a LMA by Heartland Media, which owns WTVA 9 and therefore making it sister stations. WLOV This Morning debuted not too long ago in September and airs weekday mornings from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and is anchored by Katrina Berry with Weather from Meteorologist Joel Young. In terms of this newscast, it also competes against WCBI 4’s 7:00 a.m. newscast on DT 4.3, North Mississippi’s CW 4. However, that newscast is only a half-hour compared to WLOV 27’s hour-long show, making it the ONLY hour-long newscast after 7:00 a.m. in North Mississippi.

So basically, if you combine WTVA 9 and WLOV 27’s morning shows together, then you got local news in the market from 4:30-8:00 a.m. Sounds sweet to me, so enjoy North Mississippi!
