WDRB is adding an 11:00 p.m. newscast, starting in January of 2016.

WDRB 41 / Louisville (“WDRB”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: This is a HUGE EXCLUSIVE to my blog as right now, nobody is reporting on this. I’ve head about this from a tweet made by Marty Finley who reports for Louisville Business First and at their annual awards gala, he heard a WDRB anchor announce another new newscast is coming. So the WDRB News expansion continues into the new year…

Starting in January of 2016 (don’t know when it will exactly debut as of right now), WDRB 41 will add a half-hour weeknight-ONLY 11:00 p.m. newscast with WDRB News at 11:00. The new newscast will now make WDRB 41 compete against the BIG Three‘s already established 11:00 p.m. newscasts on weeknights: WAVE 3 (NBC), WHAS 11 (ABC) and WLKY 32 (CBS).

According to what WDRB 41 has told me on a post on Facebook, the newscast will be anchored by Adrianne Flores and David Scott (who made the announcement last night at LBF’s annual gala) with WDRB Weather from Meteorologist Rick DeLuca (and not from their AMS/Sealed Chief Meteorologist Marc Weinberg).

This new newscast marks WDRB’s fifth expansion since 2011 when WDRB made its first expansion outside its 5:00-9:00am, 11:30am-12:00pm, 4:00-5:00pm and 10:00-11:00pm newscasts:

  • January 17th, 2011: A weeknight half-hour 6:30pm newscast which was called FOX 41 Local Evening News at 6:30 but is now called WDRB News at 6:30.
  • January 26th, 2013: A weekend morning newscast from 6:00-9:00am that’s called as the same name as the weekday morning version, WDRB News in the Morning.
  • September 22nd, 2014: A weeknight half-hour 6:00pm newscast called WDRB News at 6:00 (a new set and graphics were launched on that day).
  • September 21st, 2015: A weekday half-hour noon newscast called WDRB News at Noon.

Plus, WDRB 41 and its sister stations WMYO 58 (MyTV) and WBKI 34 (CW – through LMA) had a recent building expansion last year that now houses more space for its news operations and more space for employees at WDRB 41/WMYO 58 as well as WBKI 34.

What an exciting time to be at WDRB 41 indeed. Their news operations keep getting bigger and this may not be the last time we hear from WDRB 41 in terms of new newscasts in 2016. Stay tuned!

  1. I wonder if WDRB will get a 4:30am morning newscast or if they will expand their morning newscast into the 9:00am hour like most FOX stations have in the future?

  2. Isn’t WDRB a Tribune owned station? If so then Tribune owned TV stations in the past few years have been expanding lots of newz on their stations like WGN, KTLA, WXIN, KSTU, and WPIX the PIX and so fourth.
