A small minor newscast change… #55

WPXI 11 / Pittsburgh (“Channel 11”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small minor change to report from The Steel City… Pittsburgh.

Just recently, WPXI 11 has made a change to the on-air times of its Sunday morning newscast. The program is now on from 5:00-9:00am. after moving the 9:00am hour to 8:00am. Today now occupies the 9:00am timeslot which now follows Meet the Press at 10:00am. The newscast is anchored by Brittny McGraw with Severe Weather Team 11 from AMS/Sealed Meteorologist Kevin Benson (a long-time WPXI 11 veteran since 1987).

Other than that, there are no major additions or expansions to report in Pittsburgh at this time, however, there is a major expansion to report from El Paso so stay tuned to my next report…

  1. I am surprised the WPXI does not produce a morning newscast for WPGH-TV 53 since they produce their 10:00pm newscast. For some strange reason Pittsburgh is the only TV Market in the top 50 where the FOX station does not have morning news. Actually Pittsburgh does not air 8:00am morning news. I know they air 7:00am news on the CW station produced by KDKA and KDKA has a 9:00am newscast so the 8:00am hour is the doughnut hole with no news at that hour in the Pittsburgh Market.

  2. I am surprised that Philadelphia does not have a 24-hour local cable all day news channel since its the 4th largest TV Market. Back in 2000 there was a short live over the air 24-hour local all day news channel called Philly TV on WGTW-TV 48.

  3. Look up WTVE-TV 51 on Wikipedia It will give you information about the TV stations history. I was WTVE-TV 51 that had Philly TV News channel I though it was WGTW but it was WTVE-TV.

  4. Or Tribune could buy WPGH and expand news since they have bought stations that had no news before and started producing news such as WXMI-TV 17 in Grand Rapids of KCPQ-TV 13 in Seattle at one time both stations did not have any newscasts on them.
