WBRC will add another half-hour to its weekday morning news and add another hour to its weekend morning news.

WBRC 6 / Birmingham – Tuscaloosa – Anniston (“WBRC FOX 6”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Something good is happening at WBRC. They are on an expansion mode because they will be expanding both its weekday morning and weekend morning newscasts…

First, weekday mornings. Starting Monday January 4th, 2016, WBRC 6 will expand its weekday morning Good Day Alabama by a half-hour earlier to 4:00am. The new half-hour will compete against WVTM 13 (NBC), which expanded to 4:00am earlier this year, for local news in that timeslot in the market. After the expansion, the program will soon air for five hours, from 4:00-9:00am. WBRC 6 is already home to Central Alabama’s ONLY local morning news from 7:00-9:00am. But this is not the only expansion that’s happening…

The next and last thing, weekend mornings. Starting Saturday January 9th, 2016, WBRC 6 will expand its weekend morning Good Day Alabama by an hour earlier to 5:00am. The new hour will compete against WVTM 13 and WIAT 42 (CBS)’s weekend edition of Wake Up Alabama. Once this expansion is complete, WBRC 6’s weekend morning newscast will soon air for three hours, from 5:00-8:00am. WBRC 6 also competes with WVTM 13 and WIAT 42 at 6:00am (WVTM 13 on Sundays and WIAT 42 on both weekend days) while WBRC 6 is solo at 7:00am on the weekends.

An exciting time for more morning news is happening in Central Alabama, folks. And this comes from the #1 news station in Central Alabama… WBRC 6.

  1. I’m surprised WBRC does not have a 9:00am newscast since most large FOX stations have 9:00am news such as WTVT, WSVN in your city of Miami, WDAF, WITI, WTTG, KTTV, KSAZ, KTVU, WFXT, WAGA, KTBC, KTVI and so forth.
