Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #37.

This is another list that we haven’t done in such a long time, but we will do now with newscasts debuting tomorrow… from morning to evening.

Monday January 4th, 2016

  • 4:00-4:30 AM: WBRC FOX 6 News – Good Day Alabama at 4:00 a.m.

WBRC in Birmingham. The station expands its popular morning newscast to 4:00am and will run for five hours now from 4:00-9:00am with the 4:00am half-hour competing against WVTM 13’s 4:00am half-hour Today in Alabama newscast.

  • 7:00-8:00 AM: LIVE 5 News This Morning at 7:00 a.m. on Bounce Charleston

WCSC in Charleston. The station moves its 7:00am morning newscast from WTAT 24 (for which WCSC 5 produced for, but is since now produced by WCIV 4 and expanded to 7:00-9:00am) to their second digital subchannel, Bounce Charleston.

  • 8:00-9:00 PM: NewsChannel 8 at 8:00 on Great 38

WTTA in Tampa. WFLA 8 is now WTTA 38’s sister station and therefore will now provide newscasts from WFLA 8 on WTTA 38, something that WFLA 8 has once done before in 2007. Tampa Bay’s ONLY primetime newscast at 8:00pm.

  • 10:00-11:00 PM: WESH 2 News at 10:00 on CW 18

WKCF in Orlando. Yes, the newscast has been around but will now expand from 30 minutes to a full hour, become the area’s third hour-long weeknight 10:00pm newscast, after WOFL 35 started it in 1999 (started their 10:00pm newscast and their news operation in 1998) and WRDQ 27 (produced by WFTV 9) expanded theirs in 2014.

  • 9:00-9:30 PM: WQAD News 8 at 9:00 on MyTV 8.3

WQAD in Quad Cities. Angie Sharp will anchor the weeknight edition of the half-hour newscast, as announced through her blog The SHARP Side at WQAD.com. Previously announced on this blog is that the newscast has been expanded to weekends as well. We’ll bring you details on that on Friday.

That’s it for this week. If any more details or changes, we’re sure to let you know on Twitter @ChangeNewsBlog or on Facebook by searching “The Changing Newscasts Blog.” Have a great week!
