FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small change is about to come on Sunday mornings in Boston.
Starting this Sunday, January 10th, WCVB 5 will shift its Sunday morning news times. It will remain on-air from 5:00-7:00am as well as from 8:00-9:00am, but it will move its last hour from 9:00 to 10:00am and remain an hour-long. By the time this move is finished, the Sunday editions of NewsCenter 5 EyeOpener will be on from 5:00-7:00, 8:00-9:00 and 10:00-11:00am.
The newscast is anchored on Sundays (and on Saturdays too) by Antoinette Antonio, Doug Meehan and StormTeam 5 Weather from Meteorologist Danielle Vollmar.
The shift to 10:00am will create Boston’s ONLY hour-long newscast on Sunday mornings at 10:00am because WHDH 7 (NBC)’s 7 News – Today in New England airs for only a half-hour on Sunday mornings at 10:00am so that they can air Meet the Press at 10:30am, followed by their public affairs show Urban Update with WHDH 7’s Bryan Barnett at 11:30am.
Other than this, there are no other major additions or expansions to report at this time from Boston, even though this shift will come a day before WCVB 5 adds half-hour weeknight 4:30 and 7:00pm newscasts.
There is a major expansion happening and this time, it involves four of NBC’s O&O stations. The report to come…
