WFOX is gonna add an hour of weeknight news at 6:00 p.m., starting this Monday.

WFOX-TV 30 / Jacksonville (“FOX 30”)

Just when you thought WFOX couldn’t add any more local newscasts, it soon will starting Monday.

Starting Monday January 11th, WFOX 30 will add two weeknight newscasts: one at 6:00 and the other at 6:30pm. The weeknight 6:00pm newscast will simulcast with sister station (through JSA with Bayshore Television), WJAX 47 (CBS) while the weeknight 6:30pm newscast will be a brand new production from the news department, currently known as Action News Jax, a combination between WFOX 30 and WJAX 47.

The new 6:30pm newscast will compete against WJXT 4 (Ind)’s #1 and already-established News 4 Jax at 6:30 for local news in that timeslot in the market.

WFOX 30 and WJAX 47’s Vice President and General Manager, Jim Zerwekh:

“As people get home from work, we think it’s important to be there for them so they can catch up on local news from their community. Every day we’re living up to our news brand of Local Coverage You Can Count On.

WFOX 30 and WJAX 47’s News Director, Bob Longo:

“We’re adding more resources in order to better cover the expanded newscasts so that we can continue to give viewers the best, most complete coverage of news in the Jacksonville market.”

So yes, more news coming from a news department that is slowly building up in ratings in Jacksonville and The First Coast. Another good sign for WFOX 30 and WJAX 47.
