FIRST ON THE BLOG: WXXV is for sure on an expanding roll. In 2013, it launched its news department because it acquired NBC and launched with weeknight newscasts. And then it expanded last year with weekday mornings and Sunday newscasts. Now, they are at it… AGAIN.
Starting Monday February 1st, WXXV 25 will add a half-hour midday newscast at noon. The new newscast, WXXV News 25 at Noon will become the ONLY local midday newscast on at that time in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, since long-time leader and rival WLOX 13 offers a half-hour midday newscast at 11:00am on their ABC channel (WLOX 13.1).
The new newscast will partially be anchored by the weekday morning news team, Katarina Luketich and Bryan Kennedy. Your Weather Authority will be handled by Meteorologist Steve Taylor.
This comes after what I’ve already mentioned, is an expanding roll by WXXV 25. Since the launch of its news department in 2013 (when it added 5:30 and 10:00pm news on NBC and 9:00pm news on FOX), it has added weekday morning news from 6:00-7:00am on WXXV 25’s NBC channel and then from 7:00-8:00am on its FOX channel plus it has expanded to Sunday night news at 9:00pm on FOX and at 10:00pm on NBC, all within last year.
WXXV 25 is the little engine that could and its showing in a big way.
