Baltimore is about to get a taste of hour-long 11:00pm news, thanks to WBAL. The only catch here is… ONLY on Sundays.
Starting this Sunday, January 31st, WBAL 11 will be expanding its Sunday night 11:00pm newscast, 11 News TONIGHT, to a full hour. The newscast competes against WMAR 2 (ABC) and WJZ 13 (CBS) for local news in that timeslot in the area, but it will be the ONLY hour-long newscast in the market. WBFF 45 (FOX) only produces a 10:00pm hour-long newscast on weekends and doesn’t go to 11:00pm.
The expanded hour-long newscast will be anchored by Kai Reed with 11 InstaWeather+ from AMS/Sealed Meteorologist Tony Pann and Sports with Pete Gilbert.
WBAL 11’s Vice President and General Manager, Dan Joerres:
“Whether you’re receiving it on our traditional broadcast channel or on a digital service, we’re always looking for new opportunities to deliver WBAL-TV’s ‘Live. Local. Latebreaking.’ news to our Baltimore audience. Our team is looking forward to delivering more of the market’s No. 1 late news as Baltimore viewers prepare for the week ahead.”
WBAL 11’s News Director Tim Tunison:
“We now offer 38 hours of original locally-produced news every week on all of our platforms. As the leading news station in Baltimore, we are committed to providing local news to viewers when and where they want it.”
So if you’re looking for more information to prepare for the week ahead, then WBAL 11’s got you covered.
