FIRST ON THE BLOG: I really don’t have much details on this one, so this is a small change to some but I think its a huge expansion to one station’s one-time small news department in Bangor and across Central and Eastern Maine.
Just recently, WVII 7 has added a half-hour weekday local news at 12:00 Noon. Titled ABC 7 News at Noon, the new newscast now competes against already-established midday newscasts on WLBZ 2 (NBC) with NewsCenter at Noon and WABI 5 (CBS/CW) with WABI-TV 5 News at Noon.
This has been a very good recent few months for expansion at WVII 7 and its sister station WFVX 22 (FOX/MyTV). Last September, the station expanded its weekday morning newscast by a full half-hour to 6:00am, which is seen on both WVII 7 and WFVX 22. Also, the station added a weeknight newscast at 6:30pm on WFVX 22 called The J.R. Mitchell Report, which is home to the area’s ONLY weeknight newscast at 6:30pm in the market. So some very good times for WVII 7 indeed.
Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.
