KWWL is expanding its Sunday “Today in Iowa” with another (and earlier) hour.

KWWL 7 / Waterloo – Cedar Rapids – Dubuque – Iowa City (“KWWL 7”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: More Sunday morning news is coming in Eastern Iowa and its all thanks to KWWL.

Starting tomorrow, Sunday March 6th, KWWL 7 is adding another hour to its Sunday edition of its morning newscast, Today in Iowa, to begin earlier at 6:00am. This hour will compete against KCRG 9 (ABC)’s Sunday morning newscast which also begins at 6:00am and also airs for an hour. KGAN 2 (CBS) doesn’t air any weekend morning news at all.

KWWL 7 will separate their two Sunday morning hours with one at 6:00am and continuing their normal and original hour at 8:00am with the Sunday edition of Today sandwiching in between at 7:00am.

The weekend morning newscast (on both Saturdays and Sundays) are anchored by Lauren Moss with StormTrack 7 Weather from Meteorologist Eileen Loan.

So yes, more weekend morning news coverage is coming from KWWL 7, even though its not in an hour (7:00am) that can be available by themselves.

  1. I wonder if the Cedar Rapids market will get local news at 4:00pm. Des Moines and Davenport Markets both have 4:00pm newscasts.
