Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #47.

More newscasts are debuting this week and there’ll be even more debuting next week as well. For updates, stay tuned to this blog and my social media channels. Here is this week’s list and for one, it will not debut on Monday as you may have possibly think.

Monday April 18th, 2016

  • 7:00-7:30 PM: Erie News NOW at 7:00

WICU in Erie. For the first time in such a very long time, WICU 12 will broadcast local weeknight news at 7:00pm, giving the market’s ONLY local newscast in that timeslot.

  • 4:00-5:00 PM: FOX 5 News at 4:00

KVVU in Las Vegas. The area’s second 4:00pm newscast (after KLAS 8 – CBS) and will provide the area’s ONLY two-and-a-half-hour local news block from 4:00-6:30pm.

  • 10:00-10:30 PM: DCW 50 News at 10:00

WDCW in D.C. The station finally begins its WTVR 6 (CBS)/Richmond-produced newscast at 10:00pm, 7 nights a week with Candace Burns on weeknights. It finally gives D.C., its second primetime newscast after long-time primetime leader WTTG 5 (FOX)’s 10:00pm newscast.

  • 9:00-9:30 PM: CW Iowa News at 9:00

KCWI in Des Moines. The nightly primetime newscast at 9:00pm will become the area’s third primetime option after KCCI 8 (CBS) on their second digital subchannel, KCCI 8.2 (Me-TV) and WHO 13 (NBC)’s 9:00pm newscast on KDSM 17 (FOX). KCWI 23’s 9:00pm newscast is produced by WOI 5 (ABC).

Tuesday April 19th, 2016

  • 4:00-4:30 AM: FOX 5 News This Morning at 4:00 a.m.

KVVU in Las Vegas. Yes, at a very odd day of Tuesday April 19th, KVVU 5’s morning newscast expands to 5 hours with the 4:00am half-hour also competing against KLAS 8 in that timeslot in the market.
